Bank of Ireland (UK)
provided sponsorship for the music events held at the Emerald Club on
the evenings of Friday 12 March and Sunday 14 March 2004. Music was
provided by
Sack the Bouzouki,
the
New Ross and District Pipe Band
and the
Dundrody Folk Group.
The
Emerald Sports and Social Club,
or the Emerald Club as it is more
commonly known, is a vibrant meeting place for the Irish community in
Crawley and surrounding area. The club is also home to St. Francis RFC
who have themselves acted as organisers of events for previous Crawley
Irish Festivals.
The 'Quiet Launch' - Friday 12 March 2004
The Emerald Club provided the perfect backdrop for the launch of the
Saint Patrick's Weekend programme of
events. Friday evening provided the New Ross and District Pipe Band,
who had travelled over from Wexford especially for the events, an
opportunity to showcase their talents prior to the Celtic Weave concert
the following evening. Sponsorship of the band was provided by
Bank of Ireland and,
therefore, provided sponsorship of the launch night.
The 'Quiet Finale' - Sunday 14 March 2004
Following an excellent performance at the
Saint Patrick's Celtic Experience
concert, Sack the Bouzouki retired to the
Emerald Club for an evening of music amongst a lively atmosphere to
celebrate the forthcoming feast of St Patrick. The session provided by
Sack the Bouzouki was in addition to the traditional Bacon and Cabbage
afternoon held in the Emerald Club annually on the Sunday prior to
Saint Patrick's Day.
Emerald Sports and Social Club
The club is located close to the town centre on Southgate Avenue at
Southgate Playing Fields. New members are always made welcome at the
club and participation is actively encouraged.
