O'Farrell Building and
Construction Limited provided sponsorship for the Irish dance
demonstrations in the centre of Crawley, at Queen's Square on Saturday
13 March 2004.
The Saint Patrick's
Irish Step presented a selection of Irish Jigs in the open-air
by the Mullin's School of Irish Dancing with guest appearance by the
Brooklands Dance Troupe.
Hundreds gathered throughout the day to watch the dedicated dancers
from the
Mullin's
School of Irish Dancing and the Brooklands Dance Troupe
demonstrated their skills at the Queen's Square bandstand.
Traditional Irish Dance
The Mullins School of Irish Dance presented several reels of
traditional Irish dancing a times throughout the day. Over thirty
dancers danced the afternoon away with traditional sets that the crowd
loved. The dancers performed as part of the
Saint Patrick's Weekend 2004 event.
The boys and girls were aged from 3 to 17 and each took part dressed in
their school colours and danced to traditional Irish and Celtic music.
The Mullins School also proudly paraded in the
FDL Saint Patrick's Parade.
Modern Irish Dance
The Brooklands Dance Troupe presented several sets throughout the
afternoon, dancing to modern music from a Micheal Jackson mix to Justin
Timberlake. Thirty dancers enjoyed the mix of modern music and dance
and presented their skills to the gathered crowd. The dancers were aged
from 4 to 20 and took part in a multitude of apparel representing the
modern music to which they were dancing. It was the first open-air
public performance by the Brooklands Troupe but it certainly didn't
show and they provided a positive contribution to the entertainment.
Brooklands also proudly paraded in the
FDL
Saint Patrick's Parade.
