Sussex host Ireland in a fantastic Junior Chess Tournament taking place at the Clarion Hotel, Crawley, from 16th to 17th June 2007.

The weekend will feature a battle of minds featuring some of the best young chess players in England and Ireland.

Sussex have an extremely strong junior side with 25 members of the England Team. Sussex are so dominant in in the England national side it will be very much like an international fixture in many of the rounds.

Sussex have a strong reputation for organising impressive events and would like to make this international fixture, just as special.

One of the organisers, Isabel Keen, comments:

There are a few things that I would like to do to make this event special. I would very much like to find a sponsor [or sponsors] to cover the cost of medals, trophies, commemorative score books and the like.

I am also in discussion with some ‘dignitaries’ with regards to opening and closing ceremonies and I intend to get some TV & press coverage of the event as well.
